Computer Vision

Do you know those annoying cyber attacks where the attackers clone a login page and then make someone input their credentials on that fake page because it looks just like the real deal?

Today as I was waking up I thought “why not have the computer detect when something like that is happening?” for sensitive login pages you could have the computer do a visual analysis on the page to check if it looks like the known login page, and if it does, but the domain doesn’t match, the computer could warn you.

Of course there’s a bunch of possible problems, ranging from privacy to dynamic layouts, but luckily this kind of thing can be done locally in a controllable manner that doesn mess with anyone’s freedom, and also login pages tend to be pretty simple and consistent.

So, I have banged out the core of the idea with scaling and pixel similarity in a couple hours after waking up.

Photo Prints

Kmart has a photo service that I used to ask for next day photo prints from some of my recent photos, because I wanted to see how they look printed out. So after getting to a natural stopping point in my exploration of esoteric scam detection methods, I went down to Kmart to grab my photos. They look very nice!

And up next, I will work on modelling a new cap for the volume knob on my trusty K11 Pro keyboard.

Because I lost the original. Uh oh!

And then maybe I will go back to the scamming. I mean, scam detection.

Until the next one!
